119/2340) Home:  Dark Saison by Mascot Brewery of Ontario:  **; 8%; nose is a bit yeasty but beyond this it is hard to believe this is a saison;  sweet, roasty, malty;

117/2338) Home:  Orange Creamsic Ale by Railway City Brewing of Ontario:  **1/2; 4.8%; brewed with hand zested oranges, vanilla beans and oats;  smells exactly like an orange creamsicle;   flavours of orange, vanilla, a mild graininess with a sweet vanilla finish; a novelty beer but a good one;

117/2338) Home:  Brewed Awakening Black Coffee IPA by Bell City Brewing Co. of Ontario:  **; 6%; unpasteurized; sweet coffee nose;  rich coffee flavours, dry hop finish;  not a bad fusion;

115/2336) Home:  Easy, Tiger Lemongrass Ale by Silly Sir Brewing Company of Ontario:  **; 5.1%; brewed with wheat and lemongrass;  faintly lemony nose;  delightful lemongrass flavours, as promised;  perhaps the ideal patio beer;

115/2336) Home:  Mr. Canoehead by Sleeping Giant Brewery of Ontario:  **1/2; 5.1%, 45 ibu;  "Just a hoppy red ale";  brewed with oats; "The malt and Citra hops of this aromatic red ale will strike you like a lightning bolt…without fusing the canoe to your head";  as soon as I opened the can I sensed the Citra hops;  prominent in finish and after taste;  malt is very much in background but present enough to provide a nice contrast;

In case I have lost the young people here, Mr. Canoehead was a genuine Canadian hero featured on "The Frantics" who counted one Rick Green, later a fixture on The Red Green Show, as a member.  As alluded to earlier, Mr. Canoehead was an individual who was portaging through Algonquin Park when a bolt of lightning welded his canoe to his skull.  This limited employment opportunities so he became a superhero.  By way of example, on one episode he disguised himself as a salad bar.  "It was croutons for the criminals".

113/2334) Home:  The Answer by Pint Pursuits Brewing Co. of Ontario:  *1/2; a 5%, 18 ibu Helles Lager; pours clear, golden;  sweet, fruity (berries) nose with similar flavours;  pleasant enough;

Of course, The Answer is beer!

113/2334) Home:  25th Anniversaire by Unibroue of Quebec:  **1/2; 10.5%, 20 ibu; a Belgian style dark ale;  strong, tart cherry nose;  tastes of dark cherries, alcohol, bitter chocolate;  not quite the Black Forest cake experience the label suggests, unless one is using unsweetened chocolate, but very nice just the same;

April 27, 2018

112/2333) C'est What:  As Far Back As.... by Great Lakes Brewery of Ontario:  **1/2;  6.4%, 40 ibu; a New England IPA;  typical hazy appearance;  citrusy nose;  people like to use the word "juicy" when referring to New England IPAs and it is appropriate here;  flavours of citrus and zest;
