This was left over from Hallowe'en.  I was finally able to use my tickets for the Toronto Silent Film Festival which were purchased in January of 2020.

300/3650) Home:  Moving Pictures by Henderson Brewing of Ontario:  ****; 14%, 25 ibu; a second collaboration with Rush; this is a 40th anniversary limited edition ale with grape must from Niagara Riesling; described as a Belgian dark ale; chestnut colour; nose is white wine, grapes; I am tasting mainly Riesling flavours and yeast; it's a bit like a wine with a beer mouthfeel;

A member of my high school's Activities Committee once told me we had a chance to host a performance by Rush way back when but it was voted down.  They wanted a Big act.

I hear tell this is even nicer on tap.  I am not seeing as many pumpkin beers this year - maybe it's a coincidence or maybe they are going out of style.

This appears to be a replacement for Double Dead Elephant.  I will miss it every September, but this is good, too.

279/3629) Home:  Heavy Lifting BBA Barley Wine by Goose Island Brewhouse of Ontario:  ****1/2; 11.9%; brewed using Maris Otter Pale Malt with a four hour boil time, as opposed to the usual one hour; aged in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels for one year; reddish brown colour; nose of vanilla, oak and bourbon; tastes of sweet caramel, vanilla, bourbon, oak, alcohol and dark fruit; sweet and boozy aftertaste;

It occurs to me that I ought to have bought a second bottle to age.

277/3627) Home:  Conjuration 7 by Third Moon Brewing Co. of Ontario:  ***1/2; 6.5%; the grain bill is barley only, no oats - by comparison #6 employed 50% oats; to be specific, the grain bill consists of flaked barley and Carapils (a modified pale malt, the name derives from CARAmel and PILSner); hopped with Nelson Sauvin and Strata - these are the same hops used in Conjuration 6; also the same water and yeast that were used in Conjuration #6 is used here; it's still cloudy though the mouthfeel is not as thick as usual; tangerine to the nose and tangerine flavours; uncommonly malty with notes of caramel, a mild bitterness and a hint of alcohol;


278/3628) Home:  Super Soft Birthday Party by Goose Island Brewhouse of Ontario:  ***1/2; a 5.6%, 25 ibu pale ale brewed with malted barley, wheat, oats and lactose; to be more specific, while the can calls this a hazy pale ale, the website refers to it as a Pale Ale - Milkshake; hopped with a special blend of cryohops; cloudy appearance; sweet, fruity nose; tastes fruity and sweet;

"Lab Line" has replaced my old favourite the Brown, at least at this location. It was an adventure - the lights were out on 3rd floor, which is where the loos are.  Thank Heavens for phones that light up.

I made one mistake while I was here.  The IPA was awful.  Maybe it was very old but I could not finish it.  The nicest part of my visit was that in spite of that face that it had been exactly one year since my last appearance the barmaid said she remembered my smile.

This was brewed in Toronto.

Annato is an orange-red condiment and food colouring derived from the seeds of the achiote tree which is native to regions from Mexico to Brazil.

I am not usually a fan of coffee pale ales but this is an exception.  The coffee was supplied by the Baden Coffee Company.

I needn't have feared the lactose.
